Needhane En Ponvasantham had one thing that wasn’t there for other recent Ilaiyaraaja movies – “good marketing”. The quality of Raaja’s music never changes but it’s not the only thing that can make an album “hit” if you take market conditions into account. But the bigger question is, how do you rate the quality of a song – based on the number of times the song is played on FM? depending on the number of shares on social media channels? based on the money it makes in the market? or based on whether you like it or not?.
This song (along with a couple of other songs) were released on the morning of audio release, and I instantly fell in love with the song. I haven’t seen a song that shows the pain of breakup like this one in recent times. It had sprinkles of the old Needhane En Pon Vasantham song and the Cellos will break you into pieces.
